Want to make a difference in the next generation?

We have a great opportunity available for you to do just that as a mentor for kids and students! We are partnering with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) MentorWorks program. With all that our kids and teens are facing today, we believe having an adult mentor in their life to come alongside and mentor them can make a huge impact in their lives! 

• The mission of the FCPS MentorWorks program is to connect every Fairfax County Public Schools student to a caring, responsible person.
• Quality mentoring programs have been shown to impact students socially, emotionally, and academically, thus creating safer, healthier, more productive citizens of our society.
• A mentor is a caring, responsible person who is interested in giving time to a student, encouraging the child to develop his or her strengths and capabilities.
• We ask for a school-year commitment of 30 minutes a week for one full school year.  Mentoring occurs on weekdays during the school day.
• Mentoring always happens on school grounds when FCPS staff is present. Mentoring can happen at a school near your work or home.

This year, FCPS will be doing mentoring virtually (it will be in-person once the schools reopen for visitors), so kids and students can still have the great opportunity of being mentored even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Steps to become a Mentor:

• If you are interested in being a mentor please sign up below to be added to our list.
• Once you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email with a link in it to fill out the FCPS Mentor Application. 
• Please make sure you read through the Mentor On-boarding Process Form before you register. 
• Finally, there is a virtual training day that you will need to attend in order to be a mentor. You can find more info on the training day once you register.
